Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta

The Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta held off the south coast of Antigua and out of the Antigua Yacht Club is one of the worlds best classic yacht regattas. At a time when most yachting regattas seem to be shrinking this fantastic regatta is actually growing with yachts from around the world taking part in the racing action. One of the biggest divisions in the fleet is the Traditional class with all the beautiful, wooden, Carriacou Sloops as well as a bunch of other traditional designs. Our local boat built on the beach in Carriacou, Ocean Nomad, finished ahead of all of them winning the class. The two J Boats which were racing with a few other huge yachts were neck and neck most of the time and with the extremely aggressive racing they actually had a collision. I'm not sure how bad the crash was but there was plenty of talk about it afterwards. This collection of little camera videos was put together by me (Eli) and was taken by crew members Big John and Guilli. Team Adventure Antigua www.adventureantigua.com were very happy with the results. If you would like to read more about our traditionally built caribbean wooden boat please have a look at www.sailing-antigua.com
The next regatta is the West Indies Regatta in St. Barts and we hope to win that race as well with our classic wooden sloop.
